The Warriors will entertain the Mid-Isle Matrix at the O’Leary Community Sports Centre in a P.E.I. Major Bantam AAA Hockey League game, which is scheduled to get underway at 7:30 p.m.
The Warriors dropped their season-opening game to the Eastern Express in Montague earlier this week, and the Matrix is coming off a tie against the Charlottetown-based Central Attack in Kensington.
This game is a rematch of last year’s league championship series, which was won by the Warriors.
New look
This year’s Warriors have a new look behind the bench as Cleve McNeill is now head coach, and his assistants are Chas McNeill and Blake Millman. The McNeills coached the Western Warriors’ peewee AAA team last year.
Young team
The Warriors, who will be one of the league’s youngest teams with eight players born in 2003, only have three returning players from last year’s championship squad – goaltender Chad Arsenault, defenceman Austin Callaghan and forward Austin Arsenault.
Two other eligible defencemen have moved on – Charlie DesRoches is playing with the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild of the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League, and Ed McNeill is attending Notre Dame.
