TIGNISH – The Tignish Perry’s Construction Aces scored three unanswered goals in the third period to defeat the Southside Lynx 7-4 in Game 1 of the best-of-five semifinal series in the Razzy’s P.E.I. Junior C Hockey League.
The Aces were in front 3-1 after the first period, but the teams entered the second intermission tied 4-4.
Brayden Arsenault scored a hat trick and added an assist to lead the Aces’ offence. Brydon Smith (1-2), Will Tuplin (1-1), Lexin Gaudet and Jaden Arthur rounded out Tignish’s scoring. Brady Albert, Dawson Sellick, Brayden Handrahan, Ben Boulter, Colton Chaisson and Ryan Campbell contributed helpers.
Tyson Beckingham, Nick VanderVelden, Brady VanderVelden and Nathan Paynter answered for the Lynx. Assists were credited to Riley Payne (2), Frank Watts, Morgan Darbyson and Ryan Beckingham.
Bradley Shea stopped 18 of 22 shots in recording the goaltending win. Sean MacPhee had a much busier night as he turned aside 36 of 42 shots.
Game 2 is scheduled for the South Shore Actiplex in Crapaud on Saturday at 8:15 p.m., with Game 3 back in Tignish on Sunday, March 4, at 6:30 p.m.
