SLEMON PARK – Summerside Western Capitals head coach Tim Schurman will lead a popular hockey camp here at The Plex.

The camp, which begins on Monday, Aug. 11, is open to all midget- and junior-aged players looking to get ready for upcoming training camps.

“We are very pleased that Tim has taken this role and will be sure to have players ready for their upcoming season,” said Xtreme Hockey president Charlie Bourgeois.

Before joining the Western Capitals’ coaching staff, Schurman was an assistant coach and assistant general manager for the Lewiston Maineiacs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). He has also scouted for the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League, and Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL.

Last season, in his first season as head coach, Schurman guided the rebuilding Capitals to a very respectable 24-23-2-3 (won-lost-overtime losses-shootout losses) record.

The camp, which features eight ice times for a total of 12 hours, wraps up on Sunday, Aug. 24.

The complete schedule can be found on the Xtreme Hockey website at Players can register online, or at Source for Sports in Summerside.
