SandSharks claim double gold

SLEMON PARK – The P.E.I. SandSharks recently captured a pair of gold medals.

The SandSharks, a Tier 1 peewee hockey team with the Atlantic Hockey Group, won tournaments in Moncton, N.B., and Halifax, N.S.

Strong team play, offensive and defensive contributions from all three lines and solid goaltending by Cole Gallant and Peyton Lauwerijssen keyed the SandSharks’ success.

In Halifax, the SandSharks defeated the Moncton Jaguars 6-2 in the final.

Thomas Rennie (2), Jayden Gaudet (2), Dalton Desroche (1-1) and Ayden Kinch scored for the Sand Sharks. Justin Larsen (2), Kalib Snow and Brandon Gaudet drew assists.

Gallant and Lauwerijssen turned in solid performances to share the goaltending win.

In Moncton

Meanwhile, in Moncton, the SandSharks edged the Panthers 2-1 to claim the championship.

Rennie and Snow provided goals for the SandSharks, who received assists from Kinch and John Lockerby.

Gallant, once again, was solid in earning the goaltending win.
