SUMMERSIDE – Gracyn Handrahan capped a third-period rally for the Western Wind on Thursday night.
Handrahan’s goal, which broke a 1-1 tie with just under 13 minutes remaining in the third period, lifted the Wild to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over the Kings County Kings. Hilarie Gaudet set up the game-winning marker on beautiful back-handed saucer pass.
The victory moved the Wind to within two points of the first-place Mid-Isle Wildcats in the P.E.I. Midget AAA Female Hockey League standings.
At Credit Union Place’s Ice Pad, Josee Gallant drew the lone assist on Handrahan’s game-winning goal.
Airka Pollard opened the scoring for the Kings in the first period, and the score remained 1-0 until Gaudet’s unassisted goal early in the third period pulled the Wind into a tie.
Danielle Gallant picked up the goaltending win.
