LEDUC, ALTA. – Alex Gallant of Summerside is returning home with a bronze medal from the U Sports men’s national curling championship.
Gallant played lead on the Jack Smeltzer rink, which also includes third stone Trevor Crouse and second stone Evan MacKnight. The Fredericton-based university outlasted the Waterloo Warriors 7-5 in the third-place game.
Overall, UNB finished with a record of 5-4 (won-lost) at the nationals.
The 18-year-old Gallant is a product of the junior program at the Silver Fox in Summerside.
