TIGNISH – The defending-champion Arsenault’s Fish Mart Western Red Wings are rolling.
The Red Wings trimmed the Eastern Maniacs 9-4 in a neutral-site game at the Tignish Credit Union Arena on Saturday night for their eighth straight win. The Red Wings lead the Island Junior Hockey League standings with a 9-5-2 (won-lost-overtime losses) record.
Team captain Chasse Gallant scored three goals and added a pair of assists for a five-point night to lead the Red Wings. Jason Gallant (1-3), Cole Hackett (1-2), Braeden Stewart (1-1), Curklan Fraser, Silas Handrahan and Abel Arsenault also lit the lamp for the Abram-Village-based Red Wings.
Calvin McRae (3), Spencer Groom (2), Lucas Beaulieu (2) and Dawson McCormack chipped in with helpers.
Blake Jamieson (2-1), Tyler Rose (1-1) and Eddie Jenkins (1-1) countered for the Souris-based Maniacs (3-9-1).
The Red Wings took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission, and extended that margin to 8-3 following 40 minutes.
Winning goaltender was Bronson Banks.
