ABRAM-VILLAGE – A Grade 12 student who has a passion for running has been recognized as the Greco Pizza/Capt. Sub student-athlete of the month for May at Evangeline School.
Luc Gallant, who was also named Evangeline School’s senior male student of the year, represented the Coyotes in three P.E.I. School Athletic Association sports during the 2017-18 year. They were cross-country, long-distance running in track and field and he played midfield in soccer. Outside of school, Luc runs road races.
“Luc has been in our sports program since Grade 7,” said Evangeline School athletic director Jason Arsenault. “Running is his strength. Whether it’s cross-country or track and field, he has held the top three positions as long as I can remember. Luc is a very dedicated and hard-working athlete, who travels off-Island for (running) events as well.”

Arsenault also described the 17-year-old son of Odette and Dennis Gallant of Mont-Carmel as a perfect teammate.
“In team sports, he’s very coachable, has respect for authority and demonstrates fair play,” continued Arsenault. “If he gets involved in something, he does not quit.”
Luc is also active in school life, serving as vice-president of the student council and a member of the yearbook committee.
Following graduation from high school later this month, Luc plans to study human kinetics at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, N.S.
