Summerside Clippers begin football playoffs Friday

SUMMERSIDE – It’s playoff time for the Summerside Cooke Insurance Clippers.

The Clippers will host the Charlottetown Privateers in a Papa John’s P.E.I. Varsity Tackle Football League game on Friday. The opening kickoff at Eric Johnston Field is set for 6:30 p.m.

Potato Bowl

The winner of this game will advance to the Potato Bowl championship game at UPEI on Friday, Nov. 4, at 8 p.m.

The Clippers won the franchise’s first-ever provincial championship last season, and will be looking to repeat.

Records

The Clippers went undefeated in the regular season at 6-0 (won-lost). The Privateers, meanwhile, did not record a win.

Bantams

In the Papa John’s P.E.I. Bantam Tackle Football League, the Summerside Waterwise Spartans will play in the Hilton Bowl championship game at UPEI on Nov. 4 at 6 p.m.

The undefeated Spartans have received a bye to the final.

The Spartans will meet winner of the semifinal between Cornwall and Kings County.
