MacWilliams and one of his Holland College Hurricanes’ teammates, quarterback Christian Hackney, have been invited to participate in the CFL’s regional combine in Montreal from March 27 to 29.

MacWilliams, a product of Summerside’s minor football program, has played on the Hurricanes’ offensive line for three Atlantic Football League seasons.

“If I hadn’t been honing my skills with the Hurricanes, I would not have been invited to the combine,” said MacWilliams. “This is a great opportunity to get noticed, and to see how I measure up against the top talent across the country.”

A media release issued by Holland College describes MacWilliams as “a great leader on the offensive line” who “was dominant” in all three seasons and “played a key role” in the team’s success.

Hackney’s strong arm and football IQ led the Hurricanes to back-to-back championships. In 2014, he completed 91 of 160 passes for 1,568 yards, and 18 touchdowns in eight games played. He also added 140 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
