KENSINGTON – A key contributor on the volleyball court has been recognized at Kensington Intermediate Senior High School (KISH).
Grade 12 student Jillian Ferguson has been named the Greco Pizza/Capt. Sub student-athlete of the month for November.
The 17-year-old daughter of Blair and Lisa Ferguson of Spring Valley was a key contributor to the Torchettes winning the P.E.I. School Athletic Association Senior AAA Girls Volleyball League championship in November. Jillian, who played the power position, was also named a first-team league all-star, the most valuable player of the Wall of Fame Cup tournament and served as team captain.
“Jillian has great skill, work ethic and leadership,” said Torchettes coach Richard Younker. “She brings her A game every single time she steps into the gym, whether it’s a practice or a game.”
Jillian also represents KISH in softball – she plays third base and outfield – and in dodgeball.
Outside of school, Jillian competes in beach volleyball during the summer. She also played indoor volleyball for Team P.E.I. at the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg, Man.
Jillian is a member of the agricultural and bio science academy diploma program and the occupational health and safety student leadership program at KISH.
Following graduation from high school in June, Jillian plans to attend university and study sciences.
