Kleibrink, Balsdon, Lyburn also victorious in morning draw

SUMMERSIDE – Julie Tippin is getting hot at the right time.
Tippin and her rink from Woodstock, Ont., stole single points in the ninth, 10th and extra ends for a 5-4 come-from-behind win Kelsey Rocque in a first-place battle at the Road to the Roar Pre-Trials curling event at Eastlink Arena on Friday morning.
It was Tippin’s third win in a row, and moved her rink from Woodstock, Ont., into sole possession of first place in Pool A. Tippin is 3-1 (won-lost) while Rocque dropped into a five-way tie for second place. Rocque, Theresa Breen, Nadine Scotland, Shannon Birchard and Shannon Kleibrink are all 2-2.
Also on Friday morning, Kleibrink outlasted Tracy Fleury (1-3) by a 7-5 score while in men’s play Greg Balsdon (2-1) outscored Dayna Deruelle (1-3) 10-7, and William Lyburn evened his record at 2-2 with an 8-7 decision over Pat Simmons (1-2).
