KENSINGTON – It hasn’t taken long for Ellen Cole to make an impact with the senior sports teams at Kensington Intermediate-Senior High School (KISH).
The Grade 10 student played a key role at the fullback position on the Torchettes’ silver-medal-winning squad in the P.E.I. School Athletic Association Senior A Girls Soccer League last fall, and she was a key contributor in senior basketball at the post position. She is currently playing second base with KISH’s softball team.
Outside of school, the 15-year-old daughter of Ewen and Patricia Cole of Grahams Road is a member of the provincial under-16 soccer team, and she previously served on KISH’s student council.
“As a young player on the high school team, Ellen was a big contributor, on and off the court,” said KISH basketball coach Brooke Johnston. “Ellen was strong on both ends of the court, working hard under the net on offence and defending strong opponents on defence. . . Her love for the game did not go unnoticed, and she was very dedicated to her team.”
Johnston noted that Ellen was named a tournament all-star of the provincial senior AA basketball championships.
Ellen’s future plans following graduation from high school include attending UPEI and studying radiography.
