KINKORA – The Western Mariners took home the silver medal at the Somerset Days mosquito A baseball tournament in Kinkora last weekend.
The Mariners went 3-0 (won-lost) in round-robin play, to advance to the cross-overs against the Summerside Team Two Chevys.
Aiden Chaisson hit a third-inning grand slam to lead the Mariners to a 4-2 victory, and a berth in the championship game against a strong Yarmouth Gateways teams.
Yarmouth, which also entered the final with a 4-0 record, took an early lead that the Mariners were unable to recover from en route to the title. The final score was 10-0.
