Summerside hosting mosquito AAA baseball tournament

SUMMERSIDE – It will be an all-Prince County clash in the opening game of a mosquito AAA baseball tournament here at Queen Elizabeth Park on Friday afternoon.

The host Summerside Chevys will take on the Richmond Red Sox on the Gordie Arsenault Field at 3 p.m. Play continues with two games at 5:30 and 8 p.m., and goes all day Saturday. The championship game, weather permitting, is scheduled for Sunday at 10 a.m.

The Charlottetown Royals, Cornwall Cougars and Cardigan Clippers round out the five-team field. The teams will play a round robin, with the top two teams advancing to the final.

Games will also be played on the Very Important Volunteer (VIV) Field.

The Summerside Area Baseball Association (SABA) is hosting the tournament.

Friday, June 20

3 p.m. – Summerside vs. Richmond (Gordie Arsenault Field).

5:30 p.m. – Cardigan vs. Cornwall (Very Important Volunteer Field); Richmond vs. Charlottetown (Gordie Arsenault Field).

8 p.m. – Cornwall vs. Summerside (VIV Field); Cardigan vs. Charlottetown (Gordie Arsenault Field).

Saturday, June 21

10 a.m. – Cornwall vs. Richmond (Gordie Arsenault Field).

12:30 p.m. – Summerside vs. Cardigan (Gordie Arsenault Field).

3 p.m. – Charlottetown vs. Cornwall (Gordie Arsenault Field).

5:30 p.m. – Cardigan vs. Richmond (Gordie Arsenault Field).

8 p.m. – Summerside vs. Charlottetown (Gordie Arsenault Field).

Sunday, June 22

10 a.m. – Championship game (Gordie Arsenault Field).
