P.E.I. Peewee AA Baseball League opens Monday

CHARLOTTETOWN – The P.E.I. Peewee AA Baseball League will kick off its 2016 season on Monday.

The Charlottetown/Sherwood entry will travel across the Hillsborough Bridge to tangle with Stratford at McNeill Field in a 6 p.m. start.

Eight teams

The league has eight teams from one end of the province to the other. Along with the two teams playing in the opener, there are two teams playing out of Cardigan as well as one entry from Cornwall, Kensington, Summerside and Western.

The teams will play a 16-game schedule that will culminate in a round-robin playoff Aug. 26 to 28, followed by semifinal/final weekend on Sept. 3 and 4.

Atlantic ch’ship

P.E.I. will host the Baseball Atlantic peewee AA championship from Sept. 16 to 18.
