The provincial-champion Summerside Chevys are the host entry for this weekend’s five-team tournament, and the Kensington Crusaders will be the Prince Edward Island representative. The Chevys defeated the Crusaders 6-2 in the provincial championship’s gold-medal game recently.
First game
The Chevys and Crusaders will kick off the tournament schedule at Queen Elizabeth Park on Friday at 1:30 p.m. Both Island teams will play their second game of the day at 7:15 p.m.
The Moncton Cubs are representing New Brunswick, the Weymouth Firebirds are Team Nova Scotia and the Paradise Phantoms will carry Newfoundland and Labrador’s colours. The final round-robin games are scheduled for Sunday at 9 a.m. If necessary, a tiebreaker or championship game will be played at 12:30 p.m. If required, a championship game will be played at 3 p.m.
Tournament format
If one team goes 4-0 (won-lost) in the round robin, and the next closest team is 2-2 the undefeated squad will be crowned champions.
If one team is 4-0 and one is 3-1, the 3-1 club needs to defeat the undefeated club twice to win the title while and the 4-0 team just needs to defeat the 3-1 squad once.
All games in the tournament, which is sponsored by Township Chevrolet, will be played on the Gordie Arsenault Field and Very Important Volunteer Field.
