Nova Scotia posted victories of 7-2 and 6-4 over newfoundland and Labrador and Alberta while Quebec defeated Ontario 9-3 and British Columbia 7-6 on Thursday.
Against Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia scored single runs in the first, second, fourth, fifth and sixth innings, before closing out the scoring with a deuce in the top of the seventh inning.
Timmy Mann worked 2 2/3 innings in earning the pitching win. Ben Roode (2-3, two runs scored, RBI) and JT Hartling (2-3, run scored two RBIs) paced Nova Scotia’s offence.
Against Alberta, Roode (2-4, run scored) and Nash Crowell (2-4, run scored, RBI) led Nova Scotia at the plate. Winning pitcher Ethan MacLellan gave up two runs (one earned) and three hits over five innings of work.
Quebec
Quebec, led by Jean Christophe Masson’s 3-for-4 batting summary, which included two runs scored and an RBI, unleashed a 12-hit attack against Ontario. Benjamin Sauve Gabhardt earned the win with 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief.
Against British Columbia, Quebec overcame a 6-1 deficit after 3 ½ innings to remain undefeated.
Quebec got one run back in the fourth, two in the fifth and then scored three times in the bottom of the sixth inning to take their first lead of the game.
Nicholas Deschamps and Edouard Cournoyer each drove in two runs for Quebec, and Raphael Picard worked two perfect innings of relief to pick up the pitching win.

Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan got off to a winning start, posting a 5-0 shutout over Manitoba.
Winning pitcher Kyle Froehlich worked four hitless innings, and the only blemish on his record, which included six strikeouts, was one walk. Offensively, Dylan Edmands (2-4, two runs scored, RBI) and Josh Cleggett (2-2) led the way.
