SUMMERSIDE – The Summerside Chevys won both games of a home-and-home series against the Charlottetown Royals in P.E.I. Midget A Baseball League play recently.
The Chevys picked up a 12-9 decision and a 14-1 victory in six innings.

At Queen Elizabeth Park’s Legends Field, winning pitcher Justin Day pitched six strong innings and fanned eight to lead the host Chevys. Cameron Murray finished up on the hill, and Chase Costello took the loss.
Mark MacCormack (3-3, triple, two runs scored, run batted in), Tyler Gallant (2-3, run scored, run batted in) and Nick Blanchard (1-2, double) were Summerside’s top batters.
For the Royals, Costello (2-3, run scored), Harrison Trenholm (2-3, run scored) and Owen Morrison (2-3) sparked the offence.

At Memorial Field in Charlottetown, Murray worked 5 2/3 innings while striking out nine in earning the pitching win. Tyler Gallant registered the final out.
Offensively, Murray (3-3, run scored, two runs batted in), Day (2-3, triple, run batted in) and Kyle Wilson (2-3, run scored, run batted in) paced the Chevys.
Charlottetown’s leading hitters were Owen Morrison (2-3), Ethan Bethel (2-4) and Costello (1-3, triple, run scored).
Zack Hamill was the pitcher of record for Charlottetown.
