The Summerside native will suit up for the University of Winnipeg Wesmen for the 2017-18 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) season.
“They have a good program and to have the opportunity to play against U.S. schools, it’s a pretty amazing opportunity,” said MacDougall, who will study kinesiology.
“I just want to get better as a ballplayer, and academics will be a big part of that as well,” said MacDougall. “It’s not just baseball because I want to come out of university with a meaningful degree.
“I want to get out on the field as much as possible, try to get better and who knows where that will lead.”
Wesmen head coach Morgan de Pena describes MacDougall as "a very skilled multi-sport athlete.”
MacDougall is entering his third season with the P.E.I. Youth Selects’ provincial team this summer.

Competitive player
“He is a competitive player with a track record of helping his team win big games,” said de Pena in a media release. “Logan has a strong baseball IQ and a very high ceiling talent-wise, and we are eager to get his mix of talent and competitiveness into our program.”
A third baseman and shortstop, MacDougall is an honours student at Three Oaks Senior High School in Summerside. He will graduate in June.
MacDougall, a product of the Summerside Area Baseball Association who began playing T-ball at age four, is a two-sport athlete – volleyball and baseball – for the 2017 Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg, Man.
He also plays basketball, badminton and softball, and was named the male athlete of the year at Three Oaks for the past two years.
However, when it came to choosing what sport he would focus on in university MacDougall acknowledged it wasn’t a big decision.
“Baseball has been my favourite sport since Day 1,” added MacDougall.
