CHATHAM, N.B. – The P.E.I. Junior Islanders salvaged one win in four road games in the New Brunswick Junior Baseball League over the weekend.
After losing 8-4 and 2-1 to the Fredericton Royals on Saturday, the Islanders dropped Game 1 to the Chatham Ironmen on Sunday by a 3-2 count. P.E.I. rebounded to win the second game 9-3.
The results leave the Islanders with a regular-season record of 5-7 (won-lost).
Next action for the Islanders is Sunday, June 24, when they host the Saint John Alpines in a doubleheader at Queen Elizabeth Park’s Legends Field in Summerside. The first game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.

Ironmen 3 Islanders 2
Jake Cook, who had doubled, scored the go-ahead run on a P.E.I. error in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The Islanders had tied the game with two runs in the top of the sixth inning on a Connor McGregor double and a Chatham error.
Zach Gosse went the distance for the pitching win. Brett Hicken was the hard-luck loser, surrendering seven hits.
Chasse Gallant had two hits for the Islanders while Ryne MacIsaac, Josh Myers and Matt Barlow also had hits.
Cook was credited with two hits for the Ironmen.
Islanders 9 Ironmen 3
Kyle Pinksen put on a power display to lead the Islanders’ offence. Pinksen doubled and homered twice, including a grand slam, and drove in six runs.
Gallant and McGregor each picked up two hits while Myers, Barlow, Jed Noonan and Patrick Gallant all had one hit.
Mike McKay collected two hits for Chatham.
Winning pitcher Porter Smith worked into the seventh inning, before Jayden MacLean came on to get the last two outs. McKay took the loss.
