Island peewees finish eighth


REPENTIGNY, Que. – Team P.E.I. finished eighth overall at the 2017 Baseball Canada national 13-under championship.

P.E.I. lost 11-7 to Alberta in the seventh-place game on Sunday. Owen Lynch led the Island squad offensively going 3-for-4, with two runs scored and two runs batted in. Will Morrison contributed an RBI single in his only at-bat.
Grayson LaPorte, Myles Grant, Chris MacDougall and Colby Huggan pitched for P.E.I.
Saturday, P.E.I. faced Saskatchewan, with the winner getting first place in the pool and the loser dropping into a tiebreaker. Saskatchewan prevailed 10-5, and P.E.I. was relegated to fourth in the division.
Morrison, Kal White and Declan Campbell all had 2-for-3 batting summaries for P.E.I. Jacob Dunn and Brandon Langley handled P.E.I.’s pitching.
