Summerside hosting mosquito AA baseball tournament this weekend

Five of six teams are from P.E.I.

SUMMERSIDE – Six mosquito AA baseball teams will gather at Queen Elizabeth Park for this weekend’s Summerside Area Baseball Association tournament.

Five of those teams are from P.E.I. – Summerside, Kensington, West Prince, Charlottetown and Cornwall – and Dartmouth, N.S., rounds out the field.

Play begins on Friday at 3 p.m. Teams will play three games in the round robin, which is scheduled to conclude on Saturday evening.

The top four teams will advance to the semifinals on Sunday at 9 a.m., with the championship game following at 11:30 a.m.

Games will be played at the Gordie Arsenault Field and Very Important Volunteer Field.

3 p.m. – Charlottetown vs. Kensington (Gordie Arsenault Field.

5:30 p.m. – Summerside vs. West Prince (Gordie Arsenault Field); Dartmouth vs. Cornwall (Very Important Volunteer Field).

Saturday, Aug. 9

9:30 a.m. – Dartmouth vs. Summerside (Gordie Arsenault Field); Cornwall vs. Kensington (VIV Field).

Noon – West Prince vs. Charlottetown (Gordie Arsenault Field).

2:30 p.m. – Kensington vs. Dartmouth (Gordie Arsenault Field).

5 p.m. – Charlottetown vs. Summerside (Gordie Arsenault Field); West Prince vs. Cornwall (VIV Field).

Sunday, Aug. 10

9 a.m. – Semifinals: first-place team vs. fourth-place team (Gordie Arsenault Field); second-place team vs. third-place team (VIV Field).

11:30 a.m. – Championship game (Gordie Arsenault Field).
