CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - The Maritimes largest and richest street stock race is set to go this Saturday as the Discover KIA Maritime street stock showdown launches at the Oyster Bed Speedway in Oyster Bed Bridge.
Racing starts at 5 p.m. The total purse in payouts and additional incentives is $11,000. The winner of the second running of the event will receive $1,500.
Pre-registration has a field of 29 cars. Additional cars may show up on race day. Also on the card are the bandeleros, mini stock and outlaw classes.
Time trials, which begin at 5 p.m., will set the field for the top four cars in the 100-lap feature race. Heat races will fill the field.
Children 15 and younger are free. Adult admission is $15. The Speedway’s portion of the 50-50 proceeds will be donated to the children’s ward at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Kids stuff starts at 3:30 p.m., which includes face painting, tattoos and balloons. Kids rides are also on tap before the night’s action and there’s an on-track autograph session during driver introductions.
A practice session goes Friday 6-9 p.m.
