Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour
HALIFAX – A strong P.E.I. presence is expected for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour’s season-opening event.
A total of 10 drivers from Canada’s smallest province are listed in the expected entry list for the Lucas Oil 150 at Scotia Speedworld in Halifax, N.S., on Saturday. The P.E.I. drivers are Allison MacKinnon (07) of Oyster Bed Bridge; Jonathan Hicken (5) of Brudenell; Kent Vincent (8) of Crapaud; Terry Dougay (14) of Albany; Darren MacKinnon (18) of Charlottetown; Greg Proude (29) of Springvale; Robbie MacEwen (40) of Charlottetown; Chris Hughes (52) of Brackley Beach; Nevin Scott (81) of Clyde River, and Dylan Gosbee (91) of Cornwall.
Over 30 teams from across the Maritimes and beyond have registered for the 2017 season, notes a media release, and 27 of them are expected to be on the track Saturday.
The stacked roster of drivers includes four past champions – John Flemming of Halifax; Shawn Turple of Enfield, N.S.; Donald Chisholm of Antigonish, N.S., and current champion Cole Butcher of Porter’s Lake, N.S.
In addition to the champs in the field, there will be many multi-time feature winners to contend with, including the likes of Vincent; Proude; Hicken; Craig Slaunwhite of Terence Bay, N.S., and Dylan Blenkhorn of Truro, N.S. All of those drivers rank in the top 10 on the all-time feature winners list.
MacEwen is one of four drivers to indicate his intention to run for the season-long battle for the Exide Batteries rookie of the year along with Jarrett Butcher of Porter’s Lake, N.S.; Nicholas Naugle of Dartmouth, N.S., and Stevie Lively of Shubenacadie, N.S.
While Naugle, Butcher and MacEwen have made select starts on the series, the Lucas Oil 150 will mark the pro stock debut for Lively, the reigning Scotia Speedworld Toursec Thunder champion.
The Maritime League of Legends will kick off its 2017 campaign with a 50-lap feature prior to the Pro Stock Tour season opener.

The Lucas Oil 150 on Saturday will open the 17th season of elite stock car racing series.
The 12-race schedule will take the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour to five Maritime markers throughout the summer.
Atlantic Tiltload qualifying for the Lucas Oil 150 gets underway at 4 p.m., with the grandstand gates opening at 1 p.m.
The tour’s lone stop on P.E.I. will be for the Lucas Oil 150 at Oyster Bed Speedway in Oyster Bed Bridge on Saturday Aug. 5, at 6 p.m.
