The Grade 11 student from Abram-Village is the 17-year-old son of Jamie and the late Yvette Gallant.
Evan represented Evangeline School in badminton singles recently, and he will also compete in the 400- and 800-metre events in track and field. Outside of school, Evan is a key forward with the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild of the New Brunswick/P.E.I. Major Midget Hockey League.
“Evan is a phenomenal athlete in anything he takes on,” said Evangeline School athletic director Jason Arsenault. “He is serious about his health, conditioning and role in whatever sport he is playing, and he has a huge amount of respect for the game.
“His perseverance and courage to move on during the past year has been extra ordinary. I am very proud of him.”
Following graduation from high school, Evan plans to continue playing hockey and attending university.
