Ultimate Faith also records fastest trip of night

SUMMERSIDE – Ultimate Faith recorded the fastest mile of a 12-dash harness racing program at Red Shores Summerside on Wednesday night.

The seven-year-old brown mare by N Xample-Jenn of Art-Jennas Beach Boys stopped the clock in 1:58.2 to claim the featured $1,700 pace in Race 11. The racing surface was rated as fast, but there was also a strong wind.

Marc Campbell drove the Philip DesRoches-trained Ultimate Faith for owner Abel Arsenault of Saint John, N.B.

Lisfinny finished second after leaving from Post 7, and rail-sitter Lucky Encounter rounded out the top three.

Ultimate Faith paid $40.40 to win, $36.30 to place and $5.60 to show.

Other winners on the card were:

Silverhill Princes (2:00), Sendmeasign (2:04.1 – a maiden record), Glencove Victor (2:01.1), Dialamara (1:59.3 – a maiden record), Woodmere No Fool (1:59.4), Silverhill Lucky (1:59), Instant Fantasy (1:59.4), Roccos Cavallo (1:59.1), Ulla Bayama (2:00), Ultimate Success (1:59.4) and The Warden (1:59.3).

Terry Gallant, Jason Hughes and Gary Chappell all made a pair of wins to the winner’s circle.

The total live wager was $13,199.

Driving milestone

Red Shores made a special presentation to driver Mike Stevenson following Race 4. Stevenson recorded career win No. 1,500 in Truro, N.S., on Tuesday night.

Stevenson drove Tyne Valley to the record-setting victory in a two-year-old trot of the Atlantic Sires Stakes – Meridian Farms. Time of the trip was 2:09.
