Dave Cameron, assistant coach of the Ottawa Senators and an On the Edge Hockey Camp instructor, congratulates eight year-old Kolby Buote on winning a free hockey camp registration. Looking on are camp instructor Darcy Ashley from the Halifax Mooseheads and head instructor, Jordan Knox. The camp runs from July 7 to 12 and there are still spots available.

TIGNISH -- There are still spots available in the On the Edge Hockey Camp which will be offered at Tignish Credit Union Arena from Monday, July 7 to Saturday, July 12.

Jordan Knox, just back from a year of professional hockey in Norway, is back as the camp’s head instructor.

Other instructors for the camp are Dave Cameron, assistant coach of the Ottawa Senators, QMJHL star Darcy Ashley from the Halifax Mooseheads; Morgan Elis from the AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs, Samantha Sweet from the UPEI Panthers and MJAHL stars Jason Smallman and Logan Smallman.

Proceeds from On the Edge support the continued operation of the Tignish Credit Union Arena.

Besides two hours of ice time per day from Novice up, there will be off-ice activities as well as a round of golf per player at the nine-hole St. Felix Golf Course, Initiation players receive one hour of ice time per day and receive a putting clinic at St. Felix.

This is Knox’s fourth year as head instructor for On the Edge. He started attending hockey schools when he was four and was an assist at camps by the time he was 16.

“We’ve had some pretty good results with (On the Edge),” he said. “The kids have a lot of fun.”

“I think we have a lot to offer with the instructors we have here. We’ve all been playing at pretty high levels and we’ve been working and going to hockey schools our whole lives, so we kind of know what has to be done to not only put on a fun hockey school, but a hockey school where they learn as well.”
