CHARLOTTETOWN – A familiar face will help celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Special Olympics Festival on June 24.
Longtime event supporter Gino Reda, the host of TSN’s That’s Hockey, will return as co-emcee.
“He (Reda) has been a major supporter of the Special Olympics Festival, and we are pleased that he is returning for his 15th year in this role,” said Festival committee chair Reid Barnett. “Gino, along with his co-emcee Paul Philips, have become the face of our annual luncheon and dinner, and this year will prove to be one of the best events yet.”
Reda joins a growing list of celebrities attending this event, including Gerard (Turk) Gallant, assistant coach of the Montreal Canadiens; Dion Phaneuf, captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and actress Elisha Cuthbert. Additional celebrity guests are expected to be announced in the coming days.
The Special Olympics Festival is the largest annual fundraising event for Special Olympics P.E.I. This two-part event includes a luncheon in Summerside at Credit Union Place, and a gala dinner and auction in Charlottetown at the Delta Prince Edward Hotel. Tickets for the luncheon and gala are available by calling Charity Sheehan at 368-8919.
