26 teams of U-13 and U-14 compete in regional basketball tournament

SUMMERSIDE - Basketball P.E.I. is hosting the fourth annual Spring Classic Basketball Tournament in the Eastlink Arena at four venues around Summerside this weekend.

Twenty six teams of under-13 and under-14 girls and boys are competing, including the Mid Isle Magic, Western Warriors, and Î.P.É. Acadiens for Prince Edward Island. Games will be played at  the Canada Games Sports Centre at Slemon Park, Summerside Intermediate School and Athena Consolidated School as well as Credit Union Place in Summerside.

Play continues on Sunday for the U-14 teams, starting with the girls, at 9 a.m. at both Summerside Intermediate and Credit Union Place. The Junior Axewomen take on the Western Warriors at the school game.

The U-14 Î.P.É. Acadiens boys go against the B4 Bridges from Halifax-Dartmouth at the Canada Games Sports Centre at 10:30 a.m., while the Mid Isle Magic go against Western Valley Attack at Summerside Intermediate. The Western Warriors meet Cape Breton Basketball at Credit Union Place.

At noon, the Junior Axewomen take on the Amherst Cheetahs at Credit Union Place While Mid Isle Magic meets The Pictou County Lightning at Summerside Intermediate.

Cross-pool boys play goes at 1:30 p.m. at all four venues.

At 3:00 p.m. Western Warriors girls take on the Pictou County Lightning at Credit Union Place, and the Mid Isle Magic girls take on the Amherst Cheetahs at Summerside Intermediate.
