EAST HANTS, N.S. – Shae-Lynn Tremblay of the Alberton Skating Club won a gold medal in the senior bronze women’s category at the World’s Finest Chocolate Skate Atlantica event here recently.
Tremblay, who was one of 21 figure skaters from nine Skate Canada P.E.I. clubs that competed in the event, posted a personal-best score of 24.47. She edged out New Brunswick’s Madison Herrington, who had a score of 24.44.
Samantha MacDougall of the Charlottetown Figure Skating Club took the bronze with a 22.88 score.
Other P.E.I. skaters in the class included Nana Iwamoto of Sherwood (15th place), Nadine Blue of Montague (17th place) and Sherwood’s Victoria Hawkins (19th place).
P.E.I. skaters won two other bronze medals. Katie Stavert-Bernard of the Kensington Area Figure Skating Club did so in the Star5 under-10 category by earning 10.88 points. Elizabeth Clark of Sherwood-Parkdale also won a bronze medal in novice women. She picked up 53.89 points.
Rachael Vanderkloet of Sherwood-Parkdale and Emma Halliday of Charlottetown were fifth and sixth in senior silver women. Chloe MacMillan-Dallaire was fourth in pre-novice women.
Results in Star 5 13-and-over included Julia Dunn of Charlottetown (sixth); Avery Arsenault of Kensington (12th); Amy Blackett of Kensington (13th); Lauren Barrett of Sherwood-Parkdale (19th); Alycia Cooper of Pownal (21st), and Robyn Perry of Tignish (22nd).
Competing in the Star5 under-13 event were Sara Rixon of Charlottetown (seventh); Emma Hynes of Summerside (13th); Laura Davison of Sherwood-Parkdale (17th); Diana Shea of Alberton (18th), and Maria Arsenault of Evangeline (20th).
