Man gets 90 days for impaired driving

SUMMERSIDE  - A 40-year-old Tignish man was sentenced to 90 days in jail after pleading guilty in Summerside provincial court, Thursday, to two charges of impaired driving.

David Paul Richard was initially stopped in a service station parking lot by West Prince RCMP on Aug. 11.

Police made a breathalyzer demand and Richard recorded readings of 210 and 200.

While awaiting disposition on the charge, Richard was again stopped by police on Feb. 15. Police made a breathalyzer demand again and Richard recorded readings of 170 and 160.

Judge Jeff Lantz sentenced Richard to 15 days in jail on the first count and 75 days on the second. Richard was placed on 12 months probation and is prohibited from driving a motor vehicle for 18 months.
