Bridges leads Canada to Paralympic bronze

SOCHI – Summerside resident Billy Bridges led the Canadian sledge hockey team to a bronze medal during a 3-0 defeat of Norway at the 2014 Paralympic Games here Saturday.

Bridges scored twice and Brad Bowden had a goal and two assists as Canada defeated Norway to capture the bronze.

Corbin Watson stopped 10 shots to get the shutout for Canada, which finished fourth in Vancouver four years ago.

Canada lost Thursday’s semifinal to the United States, which was set to take on Russia in the final later Saturday.
