The Capitals will honour their three 20-year-olds – goaltender Simon-Pier Chamberland, defenceman Mitch Henneberry and forward Blake Millman – during the game.
Capitals general manager Pat McIver confirmed on Friday afternoon that Olympic gold-medallist Heather Moyse of Summerside will drop the puck for the ceremonial opening faceoff.
The Caps, who visit the Amherst Ramblers on Saturday night, will close out the regular season with road games against the Dieppe Commandos on Thursday and Campbellton Tigers on Friday.
The Capitals, winners of three straight and seven of their last nine, go into weekend action at 21-22-2-3 (won-lost-overtime losses-shootout losses). The Wildcats are 19-24-4-1.
The Caps are coming off an exciting 4-3 shootout win over the Ramblers in a make-up game at Eastlink Arena on Thursday night. The Caps trailed 3-1 in the third period, but scored two late goals to tie the game and won it on Maxim Pitre’s goal in the shootout.
Pitre was the only player to score in the six-round shootout while the Ramblers were unable to solve Caps goaltender Simon-Pier Chamberland.
One thing Caps’ fans have become accustomed to in 2014 is close games. In 20 of the Caps’ games in January and February, 13 of them have been decided by one goal, including six of their last eight.
The Capitals, who are averaging 673 fans at Eastlink Arena, are 11-13-1-0 on home ice this season. On the road, the Caps are 10-9-0-1.
Capitals forward Thomas Stavert extended his point streak to 10 games on Thursday. The Kensington native scored his 30th goal of the season and assisted on another to improve his team-leading points total to 51 in 48 games.
Stavert has 10 goals and nine assists for 19 points in his last 10 contests.
