Adam Binkley, the club’s executive director, outlined many of the initiatives undertaken by the club this past year.

Getting children off to a healthy start each day has ben a priority with the club

“In 2013, we served 16,240 free breakfasts,” Binkley said. “For the after school program we drove 111 children from five school including Miscouche each and every day.

We also served 23,530 nutritional after school snacks.”

The club also provides full-time and part-time jobs within the community and generates the funds to pay for these positions.

“We employed 26 full-time staff with all of the wages paid by the efforts of the Summerside Boys and Girls Club,” Binkley said. “And we hired over 90 seasonal and part-time staff.

The Boys and Girls Club of Summerside ran project called a Summer to Remember involving 388 children for summer camps at the Summerside club and in Wilmot. Along with that the club provided 22 outstanding recreational, educational and health related programs over 3,000 youth and their families.

Binkley said it is a community effort that makes this all possible.

“We couldn’t do this without the staff and the parents and all of the community support,” he said.
