RUSTICO – There is a popular show format in the French community that is rarely seen in the Anglophone sector. The "5 à 8" is literally a show taking place between 5 and 8 in the evening.

An informal cabaret atmosphere of tables and chairs, usually with light food and a bar between sets, enables the performer to establish a particular rapport with his or her audience. It encourages the explanation of how a song came about or how it has evolved over time.
Such will be the setting for a special community show Lennie Gallant will be presenting between Christmas and New Years in the historic centre of Rustico, at the Centre acadien Grand-Rustico, on Friday, Dec. 27.
Seating will start at 5 p.m.
Almost as famed as a “raconteur” as he is as a singer-songwriter, Gallant’s tales about his music and his life draw on his deep sense of place and identity, as a Rustico Gallant, as an Acadian, an Islander and a Canadian. And of course they have a special resonance when told in his own community to an Island audience.
Like his music and his tales, the evening will take place in both English and French, with care taken that those with only one of our official languages are fully involved.
Seating for this special evening is limited to 80 and tickets are available in advance from the Conseil acadien de Rustico at $25 each. There will also be the choice of a snack included. For further information contact Jasmine Orton at Conseil acadien de Rustico, 963-3252, or
