This select team of historians and genealogists take a break from their sleuthing recently to pose on the steps of Government House in Charlottetown — recreating in their own fashion an iconic picture taken almost 150 years ago of the Fathers of Confederation at the Charlottetown Conference. As the province celebrates the sesquicentennial of this conference in 2014, the historical spotlight will turn to the descendants of P.E.I.'s seven Fathers thanks to the efforts of Fred Horne, left, president of the P.E.I. Genealogical Society, Liz Glen, certified genealogist (CG), Linda Harding, genealogist, Linda Jean Nicholson, genealogist, Lou Daley, CG, Louise Campbell, writer, Richard Savidant, past president, P.E.I. Genealogical Society, and Bob Pierce, CG, project manager. Their work has resulted in a seven-part series, Confederation Connection: Finding the Fathers' Families, which kicks off in The Guardian on Feb. 27, and will run the last Thursday of the month until August. The researchers’ work will culminate in September with a gathering of descendants in Charlottetown.
