We write to express our disgust with the shameful behaviour of MLAs Alan McIsaac and Allen Roach in the legislature last week. They showed a total lack of respect for the students from Montague Consolidated School, who presented to the legislative committee last October promoting their choice of the red fox as P.E.I.'s provincial animal.
The students had done an excellent presentation and research, only to have their good idea and 'Red Fox' Bill turned into dishonourable grandstanding in the legislature.
We demand that these MLAs and the Premier apologize to those students, let the Bill be re-introduced, and take the opportunity to congratulate these young people for taking part in a worthy public discussion.
