First, I would like to thank Minister Tina Mundy and Minister Paula Biggar for their proactive movement with the old Summerside Manor, being demolished. These now should be a priority of government, to build new manors for seniors in Summerside and Montague area.

In Summerside, we still have another vacant location, the old Vocational School. Both these locations should be torn down and seniors’ units built, including Montague.

The present shortages are causing extreme stress and anxiety for our seniors and their families.

In terms of government, always talking about no money, that argument is total BS. With the amount of money wrote off on business loans, a staggering millions I might add, this situation, should be looked at as an emergency. Get the proposal out and get the job done.

A question for Tina (Mundy) – was the old manor purchased recently, with plans of new seniors units, including some physical activity and a kitchen unit for cooking? Rumour is, this in fact did happen and the government turned it down. I will await your reply.

This is the kind of information taxpayers want to hear.

My concerns about Islanders and seniors goes deeper.

Why are the tolls still being used at the Confederation Bridge? For seniors travelling to visit their children, including those who still work off-Island, these tolls total thousands of dollars a year.

Look to Montreal area, where a new bridge is going to be toll-free. This is blatant discrimination.

I look forward to replies from Minister Tina Mundy and Minister Paula Biggar on these issues.

This entire idea of communication and collaboration between municipalities and government, on these very important issues, has to be revisited for the good of P.E.I.
