At the Prince County Hospital Summerside on Tuesday July 31, 2018 of Lewis J. Simmons of Burlington aged 76 years. Born in Summerside, June 21, 1942 son of the late James and Georgie (Curtis) Simmons. Husband of Eileen (Murray) (Van Herk) Simmons and the late Arlene (Hately) Simmons. Father of Debra (John) Warren and Michael Simmons. Grandfather of Cortney (Ryan) Walfield, Jamie (Jordan) Gallant and Whitney Simmons (Nathan Farrish). Stepfather of Kathleen (Brian) MacKay and Derrick VanHerk, Step-grandfather of Johanna (Jamie) Fisher, Anthony (Vanessa) Ware, Jannigje (Peter) Wurz, Marianne Ware (Tom Martin) and Dirk Ware, and 16 great grandchildren. Brother of Lloyd Simmons (Nancy Wall). Brother-in-law of Bob (Nancy) MacFarlane, Gordon (Patricia) Hately, Joan (Michael) Copeland, Barb Murray (Hal Birch), Janet (William) Warren and Neil (Marla) Murray. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sisters Joan MacFarlane, Irene (Len) Rowe, brother Mervin Simmons and brothers-in-law Donald Hately, Roy (Anzie) Hately, sister-in-law Elva (Fred) MacDonald, nephew Kim Lamont and niece Cathy Petrachuk McCallum. Resting at the Davison Funeral Home Kensington for visitation on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. Funeral Friday in the Davison Funeral Home Chapel at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. If so desired contributions may be made to Diabetes Canada or the Cancer Society. Brethren of Mount Zion Lodge # 12 Kensington will hold a Masonic Memorial Service at the Funeral Home Thursday evening at 8 p.m. Due to allergies, please refrain from wearing scents.
