John Merton Toombs

The death occurred on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Provincial Palliative Care Unit, Charlottetown, of John Toombs, age 92, of Mayfield. He was the beloved husband of Ruby Toombs (nee Adams). John was the loving father of Carl (Marlene), Merton (Theresa), and Lori (Barry Gallant); and grandfather of Josh (Courtney), Daniel, Chandler, Chloe and Mark. He is survived by his son-in-law, Tom Killorn; sisters-in-law, Denise Adams, Jean Adams and Natalie Adams; and numerous nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents, Lewis and Ethel (Carew) Toombs; daughter, Brenda; sister, Cora (Reg) Simpson; his father-in-law and mother-in law, Amos and Edna Adams; and his Adams brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Florena (Herb) Moore, Stewart, Louis, Walter, Clarence, Keith (Catherine), Clayton, Bloyce (Phyllis) and Robert. Resting at Central Queens Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow. No visitation by personal request. Funeral service on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Central Queens Funeral Home Chapel. A private family burial will be held at Cavendish Community Cemetery following the service.
