O’LEARY

Sitework has commenced on a new subdivision the Town of O’Leary is developing.

The subdivision is going on town-owned land known as the Pate Property.

Mayor Eric Gavin said Curran and Briggs Ltd. has been awarded the contract to put in the road and cul-de-sac, as well as the sewer line and storm drainage. The contract also includes putting in the culverts for the eighteen lots.

Four of the lots will be accessible directly off of Main Street and the remaining lots will be developed along the Pate Garden Drive extension which is now under construction.

Gavin said the contract does not call for the removal of the trees from any of the lots as that will be left up to the individual purchasers. “We figured it was better if we didn’t,” he said. “Maybe you wanted some of the trees left; maybe you didn’t want any trees left.”

Although there has been some interest expressed in the new subdivision, Gavin said none of the lots have sold yet. He anticipates interest will build once they have been further developed.
