A third man involved in an assault at a pit party in Miscouche has been sentenced.

Jared James Madsen, 23, of Summerside pleaded guilty to one count of assault causing bodily harm in relation to that incident.

The assault took place during a party in a pit off the MacLean Road, in Miscouche, on June 3, 2017.

A lone male victim got a concussion and various other head injuries after being assaulted by at least three other men.

Terrance Timothy Thomas Rogers, 23, of Summerside and Drake Daniel Shields, 22, of St. Raphael, were both previously sentenced to 45 days in jail in relation to the incident.

It was noted in court that Madsen’s involvement in the assault was to a lesser extent than that of Rogers or Shields. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail, which he received permission to do intermittently. He must also serve 12 months of probation and pay a $100 victim surcharge.

In addition to the assault charge, Madsen also pleaded guilty to one count of breaching a court order not to be in contact with either Shields or Rogers and one count of operating a motor vehicle while also having a blood alcohol level above the legal limit. Those charges were from Aug. 24 and Oct. 8, 2017, respectively.

He received an additional three days in jail for these charges, must pay $1,000 in fines and $400 in victim surcharges. He is also prohibited from driving for 12 months.
