With the Cavendish Beach Music Festival quickly approaching RCMP are reminding the public to be alert of scammers after receiving a complaint recently.

On June 27, Queens RCMP received a complaint regarding a scam of defrauded money from a youth who thought she was purchasing a ticket for CBMF.

RCMP say they are aware of current ticket and campsite scams.

They are reminding the public to be careful of transactions on popular purchasing sites like Kijiji or similar websites. These kinds of transactions are difficult to trace back to an offender, which often means the buyer is out of pocket without any item delivered.

Transactions that seem too good to be true, give you more money than you are asking for, or insist on transferring money before getting what you are buying, are all signs that the transaction may not be real.

The scammers are usually from out of country and untraceable making it hard for law enforcement to find the culprits.
