Editor’s Note: The following is a list of noteworthy incidents and investigations undertaken by Prince District RCMP between Oct. 6 and Nov. 12:

Break-in at residence

On Nov. 7 East Prince RCMP got a complaint of a break and enter at a vacant home in Port Hill. The incident would have happened sometime between Oct.  24 and Nov. 6. The matter is still under investigation.

Not impaired, charged anyway

On Nov. 8 at about 9:45 p.m., East Prince RCMP got a complaint of a possible impaired driver. Members located the vehicle in Travellers Rest. The driver was not impaired, however both the driver and the passenger (who was the registered owner of the vehicle) were charged under the Highway Traffic Act.

Wife given keys for safekeeping

On Nov. 8 at approximately 1:30 p.m., East Prince RCMP received a call that a 71-year-old male was driving while intoxicated in the Bayside area. Members patrolled the area and located the male at home. He denied driving but his vehicle keys were given to his wife for safekeeping.

Tractor damaged

On Nov. 8 East Prince RCMP received a complaint of damage to a tractor that was in a field in Emerald. The windows were broken out. Damage is thought to be around $1,500.  The investigation is continuing.

Fraud prevented

On Nov. 9 at about 10 a.m., East Prince RCMP received a complaint from the Kensington Minor Hockey Association. An email address had been compromised and a message was sent out to the board members asking for transfer of funds. The bank was able to prevent the transaction and the matter is still under investigation.

Mystery car in ditch

On Nov. 9 at about 9 p.m., West Prince RCMP members came upon a blue Ford Crown Victoria overturned in a ditch along Route 152 in Alberton. There was nobody around the vehicle.

Complaints about ATVs

On Nov. 11 at about 2 a.m., East Prince RCMP received a complaint of two ATVs ripping a round in the Tyne Valley area. Members made patrol and noticed one green and one red ATV. Both did not stop for police. Drivers were not identified. Several complaints were received for All-Terrain Vehicles in that area and extra patrols will be ongoing.

Alleged impaired driver not found

On Nov. 11 at about 11:30 p.m., an employee of the Borden-Carleton Tim Horton’s reported a possible impaired driver that went through the drive-thru. Extensive patrols were made but the vehicle was not located.

Snowmobile stolen

On Nov. 11 at approximately 10 p.m., East Prince RCMP received a complaint of a stolen snowmobile. The 2009 White Polaris was stolen from complainant’s yard in Ellerslie-Bideford. The snowmobile was last seen around 5 p.m. the day before. The matter is still under investigation.

Break and enter in St. Edward

On Nov. 12 at about 12 p.m., West Prince RCMP were made aware of a break and enter into a house in St. Edward. The door had been kicked in but there was no evidence of anyone being inside.

Checkpoints planned

During this past week, Prince District RCMP received 17 traffic-related complaints.  These mostly pertained to vehicles driving erratically and speeding, as well as reports of traffic hazards on the roadway.  RCMP will be continuing to conduct checkpoints and patrols throughout the coming weeks in various communities across Prince District, targeting cellphone use, seat belts, distracted driving and impaired driving.
