CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. - An inmate of the Provincial Correctional Centre died Friday of natural causes, says a coroner.

“His health had not been very good for quite a while,’’ Dr. Terry Magennis told The Guardian this week.

The death of the inmate, who had been in custody since early December, occurred after a period of treatment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Magennis says he has not yet concluded the investigation and has yet to determine whether to recommend an inquest.
