From Glorious Sons and other performers at its fifth annual Rock the Boat Music Fest to oyster shucking sensations and trivia whizzes, the Tyne Valley Oyster Festival came to a close recently with the presentation of community awards and the crowning of Miss Oyster Pearl 2018.
Darcie Augustine who arrived on the festival’s stage as Miss Northam, stepped off the stage as the festival’s new queen. She was crowned by Miss Oyster Pearl 2017 Raylene MacLean.

Prior to the pageant finale, Janette Dawson was crowned Women’s Institute’s Member of the Year. Ashton Grigg was named Youth of the Year; Steven Ellis was presented with the Volunteer of the Year Award and Don Barlow was chosen as Citizen of the Year.
