No injuries in evening car fire

TRAVELLER’S REST – There were no injuries after an SUV became engulfed in flames on Route 2 between John Deere and the roundabout in Traveller’s Rest Monday evening.

Captain Paul Kelly of the Summerside Fire Department said a call came in at 5:26 p.m. reporting the fire. Within minutes the Kia SUV became fully engulfed. About 25 firefighters helped extinguish the blaze quickly.

A witness, who was driving behind the SUV, said she saw something fall from under the car and then a fire began to form from the undercarriage.

Summerside Police Department and East Prince RCMP also attended the scene.
