Maritime Electric will be hosting a public meeting tonight, May 24, to provide the community with information on a new infrastructure project.
The company wants to build and operate a new high voltage 138-kilovolt transmission line from the Mount Tryon Road to the Borden-Carleton substation. It also wants to move an existing 69-kilovolt transmission line into the same corridor.
Maritime Electric has stated that it has chosen a route which it says will minimize the line’s impact on residential, commercial and recreational properties.
The meeting will provide a general overview of the project and allow for feedback from the public. An environmental impact statement for the project is available for viewing at the Department of Communities, Land and Environment website.
The public can also provide feedback up to 10 days after tonight’s meeting.
The information session itself will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Borden-Carleton Royal Canadian Legion.
