A man with 16 prior convictions for theft has pleaded guilty to stealing yet again.
Chief Provincial Court Judge Nancy Orr ordered a pre-sentence report to be prepared before she sentences Mitchell Charles Donovan on March 7.
Donovan, representing himself, pleaded guilty Friday to stealing an electric shaver from Canadian Tire on Dec. 17.
He also pleaded guilty to failing to attend court on Feb. 5 and Feb. 12.
Donovan told the judge that he missed both court dates due to confusion over the times to appear.
Orr questioned his contention that twice missing scheduled court dates was “an honest mistake.’’
Donovan apologized for his actions, saying he was “under the influence and homeless for a while.’’
Orr advised Donovan to seek a lawyer to assist in his current conviction as well as further charges that have yet to be dealt with in court.
In 2004, Donovan was sentenced to just under two years in jail for theft over $5,000 and numerous other theft convictions.
